10th Anniversary :: Celebratory Service and Recital

Sunday 9 October
Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, Auckland

10am Service of Celebration
"Messe Solennelle" Opus 16 - Louis Vierne

2pm Anniversary Recital
Including the world premiere of a new commission by Christopher Marshall

The Graduate Choir NZ celebrates its 10th anniversary in style with a special recital at Parnell's Holy Trinity Cathedral.  Directed by Terence Maskell and presenting a mix of old favourites and new repertoire, the choir will remind everyone why it has long been considered one of New Zealand's best mixed-voice choirs.

The recital will also feature the world premiere of a piece in Samoan, a significant newly-commissioned work by New Zealand composer Christopher Marshall.  A concert for young and old alike, this will certainly be an occasion to remember.

On the same day the choir will also sing at the 10am Eucharist in the Holy Trinity Cathedral.  Service music will include Vierne's wonderful Messe Solennelle.  This is free to all members of the public and will nicely complement the afternoon recital.

Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Holst "The Planets"
Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Great Classics Series

Thursday 16 June 2011
Auckland Town Hall

Stunning projected images of the planets from NASA will form a backdrop to Holst’s suite The Planets. Our conductor for the evening, Michael Collins, is also the soloist in Mozart’s glorious Clarinet Concerto. The Planets is a seven-movement colourful and evocative musical representation of the planets which is as powerful now as it was when it premiered in 1920 – Pluto is missing as it wasn’t discovered until 1930.
