The Graduate Choir NZ has been invited to present a "showcase" performance at the first Gala Concert of

Auckland Town Hall, Tuesday 14 June at 7pm

The Big Sing is New Zealand's premier secondary schools' choral competition and Auckland, with a large number of school choirs presenting recitals, is one of the highlights of the regional competitions. Not surprisingly, a majority of singers in The Graduate Choir NZ have either been part of The Big Sing or are currently competing with their school choirs - and are therefore accustomed to performing on the Town Hall stage. We are sure that you will be delighted to hear The Graduate Choir NZ as the final performance on this evening presenting music by Eric Whitacre!

Dame Malvina Major becomes PATRON of The Graduate Choir NZ
In a sell-out concert recently at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Dame Malvina Major ONZ GNZM DBE was officially installed as Patron of The Graduate Choir NZ. Celebrating her long and warm association with the choir, Dame Malvina was handed a citation and gift during the second half of the recital - appropriately named "A Major Occasion" - which featured not only her fabulous singing, but also the talents of Pene and Amitai Pati and the choir itself.

After fourteen years of operation, The Trust Board, Management Team and choristers of The Graduate Choir NZ are truly delighted to have forged this significant milestone with Dame Malvina and look forward to many more years of a fruitful and happy relationship with one of the most generous and gracious doyennes of New Zealand music.

Alumni of The Graduate Choir NZ win more prestigious awards!
Following their performances with The Graduate Choir NZ and Dame Malvina Major in our recent A Major Occasion concert at the end of September, both Amitai Pati and Pene Pati have won major awards in opera competitions.
Tenor Amitai Pati won the top prize in the 2015 New Zealand Aria competition on 25th October in Rotorua. Amitai performed Lensky's aria from Tchaikovsky's opera Eugene Onegin winning a prize package of $20,000 courtesy of the Dame Malvina Major Foundation.
Opera is not only about voice it's about technique, delivery, stage presence, and projection. Pati's experience confirmed that, like his brother, he's the complete package. Rotorua Daily Post Nov 2015

The Graduate Choir NZ - news update
The A Major Occasion concert at the end of September was an outstanding success with a capacity audience at the Holy Trinity Cathedral and world-class performances by the choir and the internationally celebrated guest artists Dame Malvina Major, Pene Pati and Amitai Pati. We are now editing the professional recording (audio and video) we commissioned for this concert.

"A Major Occasion"
A huge thank you to our wonderfully enthusiastic audience who attended this very special event and helped make it a truly major occasion.
There was extensive promotion of this concert including a performance by the choir on TVNZ and interviews on Radio NZ Concert resulting in a significantly higher profile for the choir. There will be another performance by The Graduate Choir NZ on TVNZ's Good Morning programme on December the 7th prior to its appearance with the APO in the "Celebrate Christmas" recitals in the Holy Trinity Cathedral later that week.
We hope you managed to catch the choir in top form earlier this year in a significant performance at the Auckland Arts Festival in the Town Hall and in its customary well-attended Mother's Day Concert at St Benedict's.
